We welcome all God's people to share the Victory of Christ
Community Lutheran Church

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM  US.

Core values reveal the DNA of a church. At CLC this DNA consists primarily of the desire to grow in our experience, knowledge and love of the Triune God; to live in relationships that are grounded in this experience, knowledge and love; to care for all that we have been given by the grace of God; and to do all that we can to make God known to a suffering world. Our core values are fed and expressed most vividly in scripture, worship, prayer, discipleship, hospitality, servanthood, and stewardship. In the expression of our core values we seek guidance and direction from the Synod and the ELCA, and remain open to growth and change.

Scripture

We treasure the Biblical message of Godfs grace, Godfs love for undeserving people through Jesus Christ, and Godfs constant presence, guidance, and comfort through the Holy Spirit. This is the cornerstone of our life together and all that we do. (Psalm 119:129-136; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Worship

We strive for Christ-centered worship grounded in Word and Sacrament. We are guided by the traditions of the Lutheran Church but value the contributions of other expressions of the faith. We have a deep appreciation for the role music plays in enhancing our worship experience. (Psalm 84:1-4;1012; John 4:20-24)

Prayer

We seek to center all that we do in prayer, knowing that God alone is the source of the love, guidance, and power that moves our daily lives and our ministry. (Matthew 7:7-11; Ephesians 4:4-7)

Discipleship

Fed by worship and prayer, we seek guidance through study and spiritual discipline, that we may grow in the faith and live in ways that are consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through growth in discipleship, we seek confidence to evangelize and boldly speak the name of Jesus in the world. (John 15:1-7; Matthew 28:16-20)

Hospitality/Fellowship

We seek to make all people feel welcome in every aspect of our life together as church, recognizing that active participation in our work and in our play nurtures relationship to God and to one another. (Genesis 18:1-8; Hebrews 13:2)

Servanthood

We recognize that our primary call is to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This love is expressed in our care for those in need, both within our congregation and without. We recognize our connectedness to the wider church and the world in determining our ministries. (Isaiah 58: 6-12; Philippians 2:1-11)

Stewardship

We seek to heed Godfs call to the sacrificial sharing of all that has been placed in our care - our time, talents, and treasures. We do so with joy and thanksgiving for all that we have been given. In carrying out our ministries, we seek to blend our unique gifts in teamwork and mutuality. In the sharing of our treasure, we strive toward obedience to the Biblical mandate of first-fruits tithing. (Genesis 1; Leviticus 27:30)
