Children’s White Bag Lunch Program Coordinator: Carol Walton The White Bag Program is run during the summer months. Decorated white bags are filled with two days’ worth of food for children (breakfast and lunch) and delivered to the Frankford Library weekly. Staff at the library distribute the bags to the children in their summer programs. Food and money are donated by members of Community Lutheran Church and surrounding churches.
Community Service Team Team Leader: Louise Egan Team Members: Susan Barracato, Nina Evans, and Vicki Schlegel The Community Service Team researches and presents service projects to the congregation to participate in either through monetary donations or requested items. We plan and carry out each project. This past year we have collected children’s clothing for Sussex County children who need them, supported homeless veterans, and families of domestic violence. We also support John M. Clayton Elementary School throughout the year and various ELCA charities..
Quilting Team Leader: Lonnie Riley Team Members: Louise Egan, Edie Johnson, Kathleen Johnson, Lee Johnson, Eileen Magar, Judy Martin, and Joan Panuski Currently the Quilting team meets every week except during the summer. We make quilts for Lutheran World Relief which are distributed globally. Quilts are also given to members and friends of our church who are ill or moving away.
Shawl Sharers Ministry Team Leader: Kathleen Johnson The Shawl Sharers team members make lap robes and shawls to be given by congregational members to family and friends who need our prayers, love, and support. They are knitted, crocheted, or sewn. Knitted prayer squares are also being given to women at our church and Grace of God on Mother’s Day 2022. They are also being given to visitors throughout the year.
Food Pantry Team Leaders: Pam Pederson and Cathy Kunst Members: Susan Barracato, Louise Egan, Julia McMullen, Pat McMullen, Debbie Hodges, Tom Richardson, Carol Walton, Dean Pederson, Pam Pedersen, Cindy McDaniels, Sandy Wacher-Myers, Ed and Nina Evans Run year-round, the food pantry is open on the first Tuesday of each month. A prepared box provides enough food for 2-3 days. We include frozen chicken donated by Mountaire Farms and packaged by Hocker’s Super Center. At Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas we give away a basket of food for a holiday meal to our clients that sign up in advance. We typically serve 30-35 families with a meal that includes meat and desert. Donations are from church. Donations are from church members, other churches and community groups.
