What Does Worship look like?
The people of Community Lutheran Church, guests and sometimes strangers gather every Sunday at 8am and 10:30am for Worship. Our Worship is filled with the singing of traditional hymns and maybe some new ones. We sing and read the Word of God throughout our worship and follow a common Christian Order of Worship known as the liturgy. We begin with a prayer of confession and forgiveness reminding us of our need for God's grace. We read several lessons from the Bible. These will include an Old Testament reading, a Psalm, a reading from one of the New Testament Letters and Last, but not least, we read a lesson from one of the four Gospels. We hear a message to help us understand and apply God's word of Grace in our lives. We offer prayers for one another and the world and then we come together to receive the Lord's Supper of Bread and Wine. We, then, are sent to proclaim God's message of grace to the world around us.
We are a Lutheran congregation so we follow traditional Lutheran Liturgy. We follow and celebrate the traditional Church Seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. We usually follow the Revised Common Lectionary for our Sunday Bible readings. We belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. We invite all baptized Christians to join us for the Lord's Supper.
